Mr. Sushil Bhatta
Mr. Sushil Bhatta has more than 17 years of professional experience in managing infrastructure projects, financial institutions, and development organizations. Prior to the OIBN, Mr. Bhatta was a Member of the National Planning Commission (NPC) where he was responsible for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Urban Development, National Project Bank, Public-Private Partnership, Project and Sustainable Development Goals 9, 11. As the NPC Member, he was the lead for the establishment of National Project Bank (NPB) and National Project Bank Management Information System (NPBMIS), a flagship program of the Government of Nepal towards improving project life cycle management for effective public investment management. He also led the thematic team in preparation for the government’s 15th Periodic Plan on Transport Infrastructure and Management, Urban Development, National Project Bank and Public-Private Partnership. He was also the lead for the development of the Sustainable Urban Development Index of Nepal.
Mr. Bhatta was involved in the formulation and implementation of Standard Criteria for Approval of Multi-Year Contracts/Tenders in Nepal. He was also instrumental in the development of the Fiscal Transfer Mechanism in a web-based platform facilitating the collection and prioritization of projects from Provincial and Local Governments for allocation of funds under Matching Grants.
A permanent resident of Far West Province, Mr. Bhatta received his Bachelor of Engineering and Masters of Business Administration from Kathmandu University (KU), Nepal.
Mr. Bhatta was recognized for his contribution in the development management sector and honoured with the prestigious Prabal Janasewa Shree from the Government of Nepal in the category of “Management Expert” (2017/18). Similarly, he was conferred with the “CEO with HR Orientation Award” at the 26th Edition of the Times Ascent World HRD Congress 2018 in India.
He has wider expertise and experience in project planning & development, contract management, project execution, business development and financial sectors. Mr. Bhatta participated in different international meetings/seminars with respect to Investment, Infrastructure Financing and Public-Private Partnership.
Mr. Bhatta is an active member of various professional and social organizations like Management Association of Nepal (MAN), Nepal Engineers’ Association (NEA), Nepal Council of Arbitrators (NEPCA), and Far Western Stakeholders Forum. He served as the President of the 18th Executive Committee of the MAN, an apex body of management practitioners in Nepal.
